Cincinnati and Louisville are about 89 miles apart by road. Split the difference and you arrive near Indianapolis, the city closest to the halfway point between them. That splits the trip almost evenly — about 2 hr 29 min from Cincinnati and 2 hr 40 min from Louisville.
At this range, Indianapolis works for a same-day meetup: close enough from both Cincinnati and Louisville to meet for lunch or an afternoon and still be home by evening.
If Indianapolis doesn't have what you're after, Columbus and Nashville are also close to the midpoint and worth a look — each keeps the drive reasonably balanced between Cincinnati and Louisville.
